Pregnancy glossary L - Labor to Lie
The onset of regular, progressive contractions until the birth of a baby.
Usually refers to the mother's partner, but may also be a doula, midwife or friend, who emotionally, physically and sometimes spiritually supports the mother during labour.
A surgical procedure in which a fibre optic instrument (a laparoscope) is inserted into the pelvic area through a small incision in the abdomen.
This refers to the baby's position in the uterus - based upon how the long axis (spine) of the baby compares to the long axis of the mother: Transverse (perpendicular), Oblique (angled), Longitudinal (parallel).
