Wheat thins

These delicious little crackers are crisp and savoury and a great alternative to store bought crackers. Find more on Kidspot, New Zealand's recipe finder.


  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 2 cups wholemeal flour
  • 1 cup wheatgerm
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup vegetable or canola oil


Preheat oven to 180°C.

In a bowl, mix all ingredients together except for salt.

Divide into two and roll each quantity on a sheet of baking paper.

Sprinkle salt over pastry and use a rolling pin to press salt in.

Use a pizza cutter to cut pastry into diamonds or squares.

Bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
