We're an award-winning not-for-profit organisation based in the cultural capital of Wellington, and our focus is young people and their creativity.
Our staff are an amazing array of people with a depth and diversity of skills and experience in technology, performance, education, and management. Our focus is to inspire, exemplify, unlock doors and open grand vistas of opportunity for young people. Capital E programmes explore and enhance creative thinking and action, providing both the awareness of possibilities, and the means to make them reality for children taking part.
Capital E is managed by the Wellington Museums Trust, a charitable trust, which is the umbrella organisation for a vibrant grouping of arts, cultural and heritage attractions. With major funding support from Wellington City Council, it operates and manages Capital E, City Gallery Wellington, Museum of Wellington City & Sea, Wellington Cable Car Museum, Carter Observatory and Colonial Cottage Museum, and manages the New Zealand Cricket Museum jointly with the NZ Cricket Museum Trust.
As well as offering education programmes, we invite the public to enjoy these unique experiences during the holidays and weekends.
Capital E includes the National Theatre for Children, MediaLab, the OnTV Studio, Events, and our National Arts Festival.
We have recently received a silver Be. Welcome accessibility rating.
