Egg custard recipe

A very simple egg custard recipe that is suitable for babies and much nicer than commercial baby food. Find more on Kidspot New Zealand

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp honey
  • A touch of vanilla

Whisk all ingredients together.

Stir over a very low heat until the custard coats the back of a spoon.

Remove from pan as it will continue to cook.

  • Egg yolk can be introduced to your baby by about eight months, but egg white is usually delayed until nine to 12 months in case of allergic reactions.
  • I have also made an unsweetened version of this custard and it was quite nice.
  • Please note that this has honey in it and if you think your baby is too young for honey, a touch of white sugar may suffice.
