Low-fat gravy recipe

This is a great low fat gravy that is perfect poured over chicken or turkey slices. Find more on Kidspot, New Zealand's recipe finder.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • white pepper

Method:

In a small saucepan, saute the onion and mushroom in a splash of the chicken stock until the onion is translucent.

Stir the cornflour into the remaining stock. Add to the pan and stir until thickened.

Add some pepper to taste.

Notes

  • This is a great low fat alternative to gravies and sauces that are made using pan drippings. It still gives you a nice sauce to moisten your chicken or turkey with but without the added fat.
