Mushroom sauce recipe

This mushroom sauce has a creamy base. I like to whip this up after I cook my steak and the meat is resting. It only takes about five minutes. Find more on Kidspot New Zealand.

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 300g portabello mushrooms
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp beef or vegetable stock powder
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1 cup pouring cream
  • salt and pepper

In the same frying pan you have cooked your steak in, heat the butter and fry the mushrooms, garlic and onion for a few minutes.

Add the brandy and stir for 2 minutes and then whisk in the cream.

Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Pour over your steak.
