Calamari fritti recipe
- 500g fresh squid tubes
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- vegetable oil for deep frying
Rinse the squid tubes in cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Cut the tubes across the body at 5mm intervals.
In a bowl, combine the flour, cayenne pepper and paprika.
Toss the squid tubes in the flour mix and fry in hot oil until golden.
- These calamari have a very light crumb and you can make it spicier by adding more cayenne pepper.
