Slow cooked roast beef recipe

This slow cooked roast beef is juice and so tender it will fall apart. Serve it hot on a platter with your choice of roasted vegetables. Find more on Kidspot New Zealand.



  • 1.2kg beef roasting piece (bolar blade or topside)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • Juice of 2 lemons


Preheat the oven to 140°C fan forced or 160°C for a conventional oven.

Mix the olive oil, oregano and lemon juice in a bowl.

Place the beef in an oven bag and pour the mixture over the top.

Seal the bag and roast in an oven tray for 2 hours.

When done, hold the bag over a saucepan and snip the corner, letting all the juices pour into the pan. Reduce this for 5 minutes and pour over the carved roast meat as a sauce.
