Taco salad recipe

This taco salad is a large sharable version that is so easy to make. Pile it all up and let everyone help themselves to a bowl. Find more on Kidspot New Zealand.



  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 sachet taco seasoning
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 pkt plain corn chips
  • 1/2 head iceberg lettuce, finely shredded
  • 2 cup tasty cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup sliced kalamata olives


In a frying pan, heat the oil and fry the beef mince and onion until well browned.

Add the taco seasoning and water and cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat.

On a serving platter, scatter the corn chips, top with lettuce, then hot beef mixture, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream and then olives. Serve.


  • This is a fast tasty meal and great for a family that is eating on the run.
