Pumpkin, pear and ginger loaf recipe

This pumpkin, pear and ginger loaf is a delicious alternative to boring banana bread. It is packed full of healthy ingredients and makes a perfect snack. Find more on Kidspot NZ



  • 3 cups wholemeal flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 200g butternut pumpkin, grated
  • 100g pear, cored, unpeeled and grated (roughly one)
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 185g butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup raw sugar


Preheat the oven to 180°C conventional or 160°C fan-forced and line a loaf tin with baking paper.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and cinnamon. Add remaining ingredients and stir gently until just combined.

Bake for 50 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
