Cheese and Vegemite mini sausage rolls recipe
Isn't it amazing when someone offers to bring sausage rolls to a do? There's just something so great about munching on a fresh baked mini sausage roll. Add some cheese and Vegemite to the equation and you’re totally winning!
- 2 sheet puff pastry
- 500 g sausage mince
- 2 tsp Vegemite
- 4 slice tasty cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
Gather the ingredients and preheat your oven to 180C (160 fan-forced).
Lay out both the sheets of pastry and cut them in half horizontally. Now you should have four. Put a row of sausage mince, Vegemite and cheese on each of the four sheets.
Mix the egg with the milk and brush it onto the pastry before rolling it up. Place the roll seam-side down and cut it into mini rolls.
Pop each roll on lightly greased baking paper on an oven tray (still seam-side down) and brush the tops of the rolls with the egg and milk wash before baking them for 30 minutes.
- This recipe can also be made by cutting open sausages and using the meat, but these days you can buy sausage meat almost everywhere, which is definitely an easier and less-messy option!
- These mini sausage rolls are great as a party-food snack, an afternoon treat, or to take on a picnic.
- Pop these in the freezer and pull them out throughout the week to be heated up and eaten when you need a quick dinner or lunch for the family!
